Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor

The Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor is designed to continuously monitor and protect equipment that is used in a variety of applications and industries. The 1900/65A provides four transducer inputs and four temperature inputs. Software can configure each transducer input to support 2- and 3-wire accelerometers, velocity sensors or proximity sensors. Each temperature input supports Type E, J, K, and T thermocouples, and 2- or 3-wire RTDs.

The 1900/65A provides six relay outputs, four 4-20 mA recorder outputs, and a dedicated buffered output. The user can use the 1900 Configuration software to configure the relay contacts to open or close according to the OK, Alert and Danger statuses of any channel or combination of channels, and to provide data from any variable from any channel on any recorder output. The dedicated buffer output can provide the signal for each transducer input.

What was Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor Used For?

The Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment continuously monitors the health of rotating equipment by collecting vibration, speed, position, and temperature data. When measured values exceed configured alarm or danger limits, the monitor can trigger relays, alarms, or shutdown signals to help prevent equipment damage and unplanned downtime.

Typical applications include:

  • The 1900/65A was commonly installed on:

    • Centrifugal pumps
    • Electric motors
    • Fans and blowers
    • Air compressors
    • Small reciprocating compressors
    • Cooling tower fans
    • Centrifuges
    • Small steam or hydro turbines
    • Pulverizers
    • General balance-of-plant rotating machinery

Because of its flexibility and affordability, it became a popular choice in facilities where continuous monitoring was important but a full rack-based protection system was not justified.

Where It Was Used

  • Oil & Gas refineries and upstream / midstream production facilities
  • Petrochemical and chemical processing plants
  • Power generation stations (thermal, hydro, and nuclear balance-of-plant systems)
  • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
  • Manufacturing and industrial processing plants
  • Mining and heavy industrial operations

Recommended Replacement

The Bently Nevada 1900/65A General Purpose Equipment Monitor is commonly replaced in modern industrial applications with the Bently Nevada 2300 Series Vibration Monitor, a next-generation solution designed for improved vibration monitoring performance, simplified configuration, and enhanced integration with contemporary industrial control systems.

The 2300 Series is engineered to support today’s plant reliability requirements, offering more advanced signal processing, improved diagnostic capability, and better connectivity with PLC, DCS, and condition monitoring platforms. It is widely adopted in industrial environments where operators require compact, efficient, and reliable vibration protection for rotating machinery while maintaining compatibility with modern predictive maintenance strategies.

Key Advantages

  • Improved vibration measurement accuracy with enhanced digital signal processing
  • More compact and modern design for easier panel integration
  • Simplified configuration and commissioning compared to legacy systems
  • Enhanced compatibility with PLC, DCS, and industrial automation systems
  • Better support for condition-based maintenance and predictive maintenance programs
  • Improved diagnostic capabilities for early detection of machinery faults
  • Reduced installation complexity and improved lifecycle efficiency
  • More flexible application coverage for small to mid-range rotating equipment monitoring
