Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor

The Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor is a specialized vibration transducer designed for measuring low-frequency absolute vibration on large, slow-speed rotating machinery, particularly hydroelectric turbine generator applications.

The 330505 provides accurate velocity vibration measurements in applications where conventional vibration sensors may not provide sufficient sensitivity due to very low operating speeds. It is designed to measure vibration from locations such as bearing housings, stator cores, stator frames, and other structural components of hydroelectric generating equipment.

This low-frequency velocity sensor uses a two-wire moving coil design with integrated signal conditioning electronics to provide a voltage output proportional to vibration velocity. The sensor was commonly used with Bently Nevada monitoring systems, including the 3500/46M Hydro Monitor, for continuous condition monitoring of hydroelectric turbine machinery.

The Bently Nevada 330505 has been discontinued and is considered a retired/obsolete vibration monitoring component. Industries with existing installations often require replacement identification, technical verification, or an upgrade solution to maintain reliable vibration monitoring capabilities.

What Was Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor Used For?

The Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor was developed for monitoring vibration levels on large hydroelectric turbine-generator systems where accurate measurement of low-frequency vibration is essential for equipment reliability.

Hydroelectric turbines operate at relatively low rotational speeds compared with many industrial machines. These operating conditions require specialized vibration sensors capable of detecting small changes in vibration behavior that may indicate developing mechanical or structural issues.

The 330505 was used to monitor:

  • Absolute vibration levels on hydro turbine equipment
  • Bearing housing vibration
  • Generator structural vibration
  • Stator core and stator frame vibration
  • Low-frequency mechanical vibration behavior

The collected vibration data helped reliability teams evaluate machine condition, identify abnormal operating conditions, and support predictive maintenance programs.

Applications of Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor

The Bently Nevada 330505 Low Frequency Velocity Sensor was commonly installed on:

Hydroelectric Turbine Systems

  • Hydro turbine generator units
  • Turbine bearing assemblies
  • Generator bearing housings
  • Stator structures
  • Hydraulic power generation equipment

Water Power Facilities

  • Hydroelectric power stations
  • Pumped storage power plants
  • Large hydraulic energy systems

The sensor was specifically designed for applications where low-frequency vibration monitoring accuracy is critical for maintaining turbine reliability and operational performance.
